The country soil, air and sun are new to me and I am finally fulfilling a lifetime wish to have a large garden using wildlife as willing co-workers. I have 2.1 hectacre property with many native trees in the front and rear of the property. In between is a house and 2-3 acres of lawns, olives and fruit trees and roses that I have planted and a vegetable garden. I love the old roses in particular and have planted so far more than 150. This summer is the second summer for many of them and the rewards are very addictive.

Keva Rose is the name of one of my two beautiful Welsh Mountain ponies who eat my roses if I let them. I also have a menagerie of free-ranging Indian Runner and Khaki Campbell ducks (and a drake), Silky Bantam and Pencil Lace Winedot hens (and a Silky Bantam rooster) and a variety of Rhode Island, Isa Brown and Leghorn hens and all sorts of hybrids. I also have a "groodle" and a standard poodle. They all contribute usefully to the garden and/or to my peace and contentment.
