I started gardening to increase the variety of birds on my 1/3 of an acre property. Im happy to report that Ive been successful. Last year, hummingbirds and catbirds started frequenting my yard. This year, Song Sparrows, Chipping Sparrows, Red-bellied Woodpeckers, and a Coopers Hawk all can be seen almost daily. I never saw any of these birds until I started planting shurbs and flowers. I cant wait to see what next year will bring.
