My name is Kristen and I am a gardening fanatic! Nothing makes me happier than digging in the dirt.

Gardening is my sanctuary! I am very interested in unusual perennials. I often change my plants locations -- in fact, I think all my plants should earn frequent flyer miles because I move them around so much.

My wonderful husband doesnt know beans about gardening, but he wields a mean rototiller, and has created several new garden beds for me. He also pulled out all my anise hyssop, thinking they were weeds, but I restrained myself from clocking him with my hoe, because the poor thing thought he was helping.

To support my plant-buying habit, I have a full-time job in corporate public relations. My other passions in life are yoga and scuba diving. I teach yoga part time, and I scuba dive once a month at the Pittsburgh Aquarium, cleaning our 400,000 ocean tank. That doesnt leave many spare hours for gardening, so on most summer mornings, I can be found at 6 a.m. on hands and knees, digging away, worrying whether that 3 phlox would look better in the front garden or side garden. Then I take a shower and go to work, my garden jones temporarily under control.

I love to talk to other perennial gardeners to share tips and ideas. Two of my dearest friends -- Andrea and Gina -- are Master Gardeners and I am blessed to be able to learn from them. My goal is to find time in my life to become a Master Gardener, too. Some day!
