This spring, 2004, I planted my first (teeny) garden in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Probably true to form, I find that much of what I planted just 3 months ago, I wouldn't again if I had the chance - like rhododendrons, and masses of lobelia edging.

Although I'm starting to care less for colour and more about texture and form - like Artemesia and coleus (which is colourful, but not in a floral sense) - I am the proud conduit of 7 long-stemmed snapdragons, currently decorating my sitting room. A holiday in Greece wouldn't give me greater joy than admiring this bunch of reds, almost reds and yellows.

But oh, so much to learn!
