I started gardening when I bought my house 4 years ago. I come from a long line of gardeners and farmers, but when my mom and grandparents moved to Texas from Arkansas, they gave up gardening. Apparently, it's a lot easier in Arkansas than it is down here in San Antonio! It's hot most of the time, usually humid -- even during a drought -- and a very stressful climate for most living things, myself included. During summer, I wonder why I do this at all, but every time the roses bloom, or I have a windowsill full of zinnias and ripening tomatoes, I remember. But even when gardening is terrible, I can't seem to stop doing it. ;-)
