I've come to live in the US and have had to leave behind in New Zealand my wonderful one and a quarter acre country garden with orchard, potager, croquet lawn, pond, bush walk etc- all now owned by another lucky person who is fortunately a keen gardener. I am living in a rented house with a small garden which Has Potential - and the landlord is happy for me to garden it. Don't know how long I will be living here - my husband has a short term contract (2 years)initially. I have been keen on topiary for 15 years and left some beauties behind - so I am keen to create some more in pots. I'm also counting the days until spring - I go outside and tour the yard to see what new bulbs are popping up, so far so good. Heaps of crocuses and what could be snowdrops or snowflakes, too soon to distinguish - and there are obviously irises and daffodils too. I'm told there will be tulips, daylillies and grape hyacinths in due course... I don't recognise some of the deciduous shrubs and trees yet but as soon as buds start forming I will be able to do a bit more identifying - exciting! And I's pretty sure I have some lilacs - which reminds me of the garden I had in Nova Scotia 30 years ago. I have lived and gardened in Canada, Britain, New Zealand and now I'm about to do it in the US - it is certainly an international hobby...
