I am a 53yr.old woman, married, grown daughters and step-sons. My two best buddies are my fem.8+yr. old coffee colored Dalmatian named SQP,(Skewpy) and JuniorDogh, a 1 yr. old German Wirehaired Pointer that's black.
I used to be an operating engineer running dozers and loaders, etc.
I worked as a photographer for a time. Won some awards, and would like to get back into b/w work with my ancient box cameras once I get some other priorities out of the way.
I woodwork/woodcarve...animals, woodspirits, rocking horses etc. I use hand and power tools, and make 'things' from various shrubs & trees I've cut down on and around my property as well as using dimensional lumber.
I would rather be outside than anywhere, 'Domestic Goddess' is not one of my titles...obvious if you saw the condition of my house..oh well...
I bugged(I DON'T nag)my husband for a greenhouse for years, but breast cancer and a horrible storm in the middle of us redecking our roof, finally got me a home made 8x12 wooden one around Nov. of '92. We had lumber, and a huge piece of clear plastic left over, and there I was hairless and boobless saying,geez what can we do with all of that...Da!
When they think you're going to croak they do stuff for you!!!
My husband is out of town, or busy, most of the time, and I haven't been 'allowed' to drive since I had my surgery in '92, so I'm lucky to get taken to the grocery store once every couple of weeks. Getting things for the garden, under the circumstances, is frustrating, to say the least.
Trying to find supplies and REAL information about products is what got me here. This is a great web site !
I was interested in info., and specs. from a company called www.hobbygardens.com. I liked their 12x16 'grower' unit for $340.00.
For supplemental space for overwintering some plants and a place to have my peat moss and growing medium, sand, pots, bales of straw, etc.,...and a place to pot up winter diggings and dormant things...ALL IN ONE PLACE...it looked like just the thing.
I e-mailed them the first time with some questions,(easy ones-I thought).
The second time, the next day I sent a few more questions...size and type of frame materials...weight and light trans. of film.
Several days later I sent them a third e-mail asking if they were still there, were they on vacation????
Finally, a week later I got a reply to ALL my questions. It said: \"The height is 7'1\".
I wrote them back saying I was glad to finally hear from them and could they PLEASE answer my other questions.
It's been over a week, I'm still waiting.
Silly me, I'm a little concerned about a company that wants to take my money but won't answer questions.
I decided to try to find out if anyone out there knows about this company, so here I am.
I don't use the computer alot...I really AM usually outside, and for the few women I do know, the idea of wearing farmer jeans and boots, playing in dirt, hanging out with dogs, just isn't where they want to go...their loss.
My husband is afraid to come out the back door, he never knows what's going to be roto-tilled up, or cut down, but then again, shouldn't life have some surprises?
