I bought a house with my husband about three years ago and Ive been trying to beautify it ever since. I have a large sunny perennial/bulb/herb garden in my front yard thats quickly turning into a field of lavender. I also have a vegetable garden and a small shade garden. My goal this year is to convert the underperforming vegetable garden into another perennial garden. My main enemy is Maryland weather. If its not a drought drying everything out; the mold, rain and thunderstorms ruin everything--a few summers ago a storm shredded my gardens with hail and zapped the big old oak in my backyard with lightning (it killed the answering machine too!).
