DH and I retired to Surprise a year ago. Have gardened organic coast to coast - AZ the most challenging but we are learning! Growing fruit, including some tropicals, veggies, incl. some Asian, herbs, cactus, roses, perennials, pond plants, orchids. Try a lot from seed.

Jesse Jane is one of our adopted feral kitties - very clever - turns on the lights in the AM to wake us if we sleep past her breakfast time!
