I am intensely curious and like to know every plant that exists in my garden. I spend hours (days, sometimes) trying to identify every sprout that the wind and birds plant. Even the weeds.

I prefer showy perennials to annuals, especially evergreen, since I live in California where there is much to choose from.

I regret that it is often difficult to identify an unknown plant because many of the keys require a knowledge of the plant that cannot be know until it has gone through an entire life cycle, or without the aid of an electron microscope. I was in search of a better, simpler key, but now I think the forum will solve all my problems.
