Have been a chemist for over 25 years and currently living on the 18th floor of a hi-rise building and blessed with a balcony that is 6ft wide by 40ft long. I am growing a number of shrubs and perennials in my garden space and have been container gardening here for almost 2 decades and gardening in general for over four decades. I encourage anyone and everyone living in a dwelling with a balcony, deck, rooftop, fire escape, terrace, patio, or even just a windowsill (and with no "ground" to plant in) - go on and grow what you like. You might be surprised at what will do well and thrive given enough TLC!
