I am an inactive RN who enjoys gardening so much that I became a Master Gardener in 2001 in my county. I have accumulated over 1000 payback hours in that time by volunteering on the horticulture hot line for homeowners and I volunteer on a weekly basis at County office Demo garden for roses free for public viewing on the former Friendly Farms property in East Meadow, NY I have 3 children and they do not share my interest in gardening! I think it skips a generation! I am the author of the Peony fact sheet for our county fact sheets and I have had published in the LI Horticultural Society's newsletter articles on dry shade perennials and Winter hardy camellias. Dry shade perennials article was published in the Cornell Extension Nassau County LI Gardening issue in the fall of 2006. New for 2012: On the site of the Friendly Farms property, a new trial demonstration rose garden will be established to test Earth Kind roses and this is being done in conjunction with Cornell Cooperative Extension and New York Botanical Gardens. I will be co-chair of this new committee.
