I've been working with camellias since I was in high school and a lot of different named varieties as well as a good number of japonica and sasanqua seedlings, which I am eager to see in bloom. A dozen, or so, of my sasanqua seedlings have grown into large shrubs over twelve feet high. About half of them are pink, the rest white. Several japonica seedlings have set buds for the first time this year, and I'm eager to see what their flowers will look like. In addition to growing camellias, I grow azaleas. Among our other ornamentals, I'm especially fond of the redwood, which I planted around 1980; the China Fir and the Blue China Fir; the several Japanese flowering apricots (_Prunus mume_); the tea olives; the _Eleaegnus pungens fruitlandii_, and the Chinese windmill palms (_Trachycarpus fortunei_).
