I discovered GardenWeb just a little over a year ago. Wow, what a difference you all have made to our fixer-upper in Jersey City, NJ. Thanks to you all the back yard (and front yard, too) is 300% improved over what it was when we moved in.

I would like to thank all of those who traded plants with me and the people on the Winter Sowing forum. Winter sowing is incredible. I can’t wait until next winter (summer is the time for house projects). Some of the traded plants that are doing well in our back yard are the Ozark sundrops, the crocosmia, the breadseed poppies, the scabiosa, and the irises. Your advice is invaluable, too--I put "The Fairy" rose in our front garden after reading all of posts about hardy roses on the Rose Forum. It blooms nonstop and nobody tries picking THOSE flowers!

Since we have a lot of work to do on the house, I am landscaping with perennials. I am especially looking for plants that take care of themselves, like the Ozark sundrops, the Iris pseudacorus (this iris loves the area just outside our drainpipe), and the hostas. Any suggestions that you have are welcome!
