I'm retired (since 2002), and enjoying bird-watching, gardening, church choir, grandchildren ...
I have 9 bird feeders in 3 locations in a suburban yard, with sunflower, suet, niger, and sometimes cracked corn. Also a bird bath with a warmer in the winter, and a dripper in the summer. No nestboxes now.
The garden has about 40 day lilly varieties, 8 tulip varieties, 5 Hyacinth, 12+ Iris, Daffodils, Asiatic lillies, Bleeding-Heart, Lupine, Astilbe, Hollyhock, Columbine, Peony, Coneflower ... We’ve added a white picket fence to the front yard to provide a background for the flowers. The fence also supports Morning Glories. There are other flowers near the front and sides of the house, and on the rear deck. We have a potted herb garden on one side of the house. We have automatic watering systems (soaker and drip hoses, with timers) for all the garden areas.
I have a Minolta Maxxum 3000i SLR camera with 35-80mm autofocus zoom, but now I use an Olympus Camedia C-765 digital camera with 10X optical zoom (40X with digital zoom), which works well for garden, bird, origami, and family photos.
My home page links to sections on Gardening, Birdwatching, Origami, Programming, and other interests. I also have a blog, and a photo gallery that includes construction details for some bird-watching gadgets.
