I now live in a small central Iowa town. But for many years lived in Washington DC. DC had warmer winters but the traffic was intolerable.

I grow turfgrass and flowers. I don't grow fruits and veggies. I have a large compost bin and mulch mow my lawn when the soil temps are above 53F. Iowa does not allow yard/garden waste in landfills so composting is a must.

I view lawn care as urban agriculture.

My main garden interest is collecting and building a varied perennial flower and plant garden.
