Aloha!

I live along the Hamakua Coast of the Island of Hawaii. (aka "The Big Island"). My yard was originally part of an old sugar plantation camp, so I have some older varieties of plants as well as some larger plants.

I have producing coffee trees, avocado, guava, mango, bananas and coconuts. Theres also a lot of ornamental plants and flowers. Im just starting to experiment with green tea (camellia sinensis). Hopefully, that will be a hedge someday.

My current experiment is fencing in the back yard and having chickens to forage for bugs and keep the grasses and groundcover from overwhelming the coffee trees. So far the plants and chickens seem to be mutually beneficial to each other, althoug, my vegetable garden will have to be somewhere chicken free.
