Welcome to hollyhockdoll's Member Page
I grow old fashioned single hollyhocks in my garden, mainly because I don't like the double ones. It never fails that, when a woman over the age of 50 or so walks through my garden and sees those flowers, she starts to tell me about all of the fun she had as a little girl making dolls out of the blossoms. Their eyes glisten with fond memories and many times they ask, much like a little girl would, if they could please take some seeds home? That is why, even though they re-seed like crazy (and aren't the easiest things to pull up either), and I can't seem to find a good place for them in the master landscape plan, and there are a lot of plants I would rather grow, I will probably always have single hollyhocks growing in my garden.
