I took up gardening as a stress reliever from my job. Now recently retired I find gardening as a connection with my soul. I am an amateur painter and have decided my first collection of work will be based on my garden. I have a sign post among my cannas with the city and mileage to each of our four children. They like to have their pictures taken by that signpost when they come home from Tucson, Dallas, Kansas City and Cincinnati! It is extra hot and humid this year, so the successes I had with my garden last year and not necessarily the ones I have this year. My husband is a retired engineer and is so thoughtful to build tuteurs, pavers, trellis and etc.
