I enjoy many forums so its hard to pick just a first and second favorite.

I especially delight in growing very dramatic plants like large bamboos, bold-leaved cannas, palms, cardoons, bananas, etc. I spend a lot of time trying to assess what the perfect plant for any given situation would be, but because I wont settle for what everyone else is growing, I often get it wrong. I enjoy pushing the bounds of what I can grow. Some would call that zone denial.

My favorite activity is looking for unique plant sports/mutations. Some of my finds dont pan out, but I have a few things that look stable and worthwhile: a variegated lewisia, a variegated boxwood, a variegated rose of sharon. Its not that I feel everything should be variegated, but these are the types of mutation that are most likely to catch the eye. Im watching a few shrubs and trees that have produced interesting leaf shapes, but so far nothing that has proven its stability.

I would like to learn tissue culture so I can "garden" year-round more intensely. And also so I can propagate my unique sports more quickly.

I live in: United States

My zone is: 6b

My favorite forum 1 is Bamboo.

My favorite forum 2 is Shrubs.
