I have gardened in the north of England, then after moving to Aust, in Vic, NSW and now North Queensland. ...And yet again I am having to get used to a different (Dry Tropics) climate. Our new home is also different from all previous in that it is on acreage and I can finally include TREES (even big ones) in my garden plans. The property borders a creek and consists of a FEW residual natives (mostly gums) and lots of mango trees. We are trying to add more native trees and shrubs and a more diverse range of fruit trees. An added advantage that causes some problems garden-wise is the range of native animals that live on or pass through the property - the young male wallabies knock over young trees, the possums eat my petunias and (believe it or not) chilli plants and the bandicoots dig up our little bit of lawn - but they were there before us so I just enjoy them.
