I have found gardening to be one of the few hobbies that you can be really bad at.....yet still have something to show for it.
I started it six years ago....mostly because we were raising rabbits and chickens and I needed someplace to put the poop!!!
Now we grow veggies in raised beds and I am going to be very ambitious this year and do a raised perennial bed
