I live in a village in Southern Alberta Canada, the kind of place that if you forget to lock your door things won't go missing. I grow vegetables and flowers from seed. I never liked gardening until about 15 years ago when we bought the home that we live in now. It was owned by an elderly couple (Arvil and Winney)who very much enjoyed gardening, they passed away within 3 months of each other.Their home was considered a local showplace. When we moved in we planted the vegetable garden to grass, but felt that we should try to maintain some of the beds and borders mostly because we felt that if we didn't that all of the old folks would talk about how we let the place go.

Apparently Arvil and Winney had different ideas for how the property should be kept. My wife is determined that Arvil at least, began haunting me, I don't know, maybe. Anyway 15 years later I think that Arvil would be pleased to see what we have done.

I am pleased to say that our property is still considered a local showcase, and locals will often drop in unexpectedly just to take a peek.
