I've been gardening for more years than I care to think about in a very wide range of climates, and with a wide range of plants. Consequently I know a little bit about a lot of things, and not nearly enough to satisfy me about anything. I moved here from Nebraska and 'suffered' from climate shock for a little while--actually I thought I'd died and gone to heaven, tho' sometimes in the summer I wonder if I didn't go somewhere else. I guess the first plants I grew seriously were begonias, plus various bulbs, and then before long gesneriads. I got very serious about primulas and alpines, especially when I lived almost a mile high in southern Oregon just above the California border. The garden club members there, when I said I didn't much care for plastic plants, said I'd better learn to because that's all we could grow. I didn't say it aloud, but I said to myself, HAH! and had a wonderful time finding a lot of things that did quite well. It's easier here, tho' not for a lot of my former loves, and it's a good thing 'cause I need it easier!
