I’ve got a wonderful heritage of gardening that’s come down from both sides of the family, but especially my father and his parents - some of my most precious childhood memories are as a little girl, being at my grandparents’ home in Ohio and feasting on whatever Grandpa had growing at the time (the raspberries were the best!). As my windchimes on the porch have lettered on them, "Life began in a Garden", and I’m never closer to the Lord than when I’ve got my quiet prayer time with Him, tending my lovely plants. I absolutely adore learning how to grow different things (mostly edibles, but have branched into perennials of late), try to do organic gardening whenever possible, and put in a bazillion hours outside after work and on weekends as soon as the weather gets warm enough in the spring. Since I live in a suburban subdivision, the yards aren’t exactly lavish space-wise, so I’ve been trying to devise ingenious ways to maximize what I can grow in a lot that’s only about 1/4 acre total. But at least I’ve got some good sunshiney areas, that’s a blessing!

I’d enjoy picking the brains and hearing the experiences of all the more seasoned gardeners out there, so am looking forward to being part of the forums and sharing a mutual love of all things green. No matter the decades that go by, the Lord keeps my child-like joy in His diverse and amazing creation vibrant and strong, and I’m praying this passion of mine carries on into the next generation with my three children as they grow up. As we sow with anticipation in the earth, let us sow all the more deeply in others’ souls (Gal 6:9).
