Having lived a half a century in rural south Georgia, I made a drastic change--moved to the coast of Virginia 5 years ago and recently moved to Winston-Salem, NC. Except for leaving grandbabies, I find that Im having the time of my life making this new change! I do miss my huge yard in Georgia, bought a home in VA and totally changed the yard there. Now weve bought a new home in NC that has absolutely nothing in the back yard except newly planted grass seed (front & sides are sodded. My gardening now consists of daylilies, irises, hostas, some Aussie tree limbs for planting, a couple of Japanese Plum trees, and some others, plus a few potted plants that I did bring with me. The biggest pleasure Ive had living in an apartment in VA is that we won 2nd place in the Prettiest Patio & Deck contest in June, 03! We didnt go out of our way to do anything special, but daylilies were blooming like crazy! However, a change is in the horizon as my husband was offered a job in Concord. So sometime in the near future (have to sell the home first), we're headed to Concord/N Charlotte area.
