I am a hobby gardener growing flowers, vegetables, fruit and active in a garden club. Every non-employed moment is dedicated to gardening in some way. I have 5 laying hens who scratch along with me and help me keep the bugs under control.

I was raised on a berry/vegetable farm in Sumner and have returned to the valley soil with a 1/4 acre patch in town. Although working full time in a non-gardening career, I'm exploring potential income from horticulture part-time and at retirement...in a few years. My brother has a nearby "farm" where he is returning land to it's former natural state which means planting hundreds of native plants and trees. We both have use of commercial greenhouses and he has been successfully growing tree seedlings. I'm presently researching the "niche" for growing specialty plants and have talked with a lot of landscapers and wholesalers who seem supportive. Any ideas are welcome. Mary Beth
