I was introduced to flower gardening
9 years ago by my great-aunt Leota
with her wedding gift of a hybrid tea rose named "First Prize."

Ive been
hooked ever since, and I spend every spare moment in the yard, and First
Prize is still going strong!

My 4 year old
granddaughter is showing signs of being a lover of the
outdoors, too. I love to walk around the yard with her and teach her about
bugs, birds, colors, and life with my flowers. She loves to help me water my plants
(and sometimes she likes to water ME! LOL) and she loves to go fishing!

I almost exclusively grow perennials. I have learned a lot about them this
way and I like to get different things every year. I wouldnt want to have a garden
with only 4 or 5 different things in it!

Ive started a
garden notebook, with a list of all my flower beds and whats in them (common
and botanical name when possible), and Im about to begin inserting photos of
the beds with it. That way, in winter, I can look at what Ive got when planning
what Ill do next year.

My
most recent projects have been a canna garden in my back yard with paths and a
3-tier strawberry bed made out of a tractor tire, a car tire, and a lawnmower
tire... and I got the idea right here on the Garden Junk forum. Although now, the
strawberries have gotten so big that you cant even see the other tires unless
youre standing beside it!

I
have also recently installed my first water garden. Im SO
excited! I placed it against the end of my house next to the driveway,
just behind my prized Pee Gee hydrangea.......

I also just completed the Master Gardener
class in Feb. 2005. I can already tell its
going to be fun.

I have a page on WebShots with albums of my flowers. Take a
look with the link below!
