I'm a newbie this year but have lots of time to research and dig. I have only perennials in my garden. Two rose bushes, an old rambler that survived years of neglect and a Gemini HT, recently my friend gave me a nice ros and spireas for height and shrub interest. I've added a hibiscus, sedum, ornamental grasses, yellow bearded iris, hydrangeas, a few hosta plants and lilies to my garden. Everything is "junior" size right now, I'm already excited for next spring for my plants to get big. For my birthday this year I treated myself to 5 rose bushes I purchased online for next spring. I am trying to educate myself on garden design, as opposed to just throwing plants down randomly, which is what I started off doing. I find it challenging trying to figure where things should go and with what, mostly because I'm a newbie and I can't quite picture what a plant will ultimately look like. I am also learning about diseases, bugs and pests to better protect my plants, my first sighting of a japanese beetle I did not kill it because I thought it might be a "good bug". I figured out they were my mortal enemy within a couple of days. I would be interested in just about anything that can add interest to my landscape, grow well in my zone 5b and companions for what I already own. Thank you for visiting my profile!
