I live in Terranora on north east coast of NSW between the Queensland Gold Coast and the Tweed Valley (just south of the border), having moved here from Sydeny 6 months ago (December 2001). The area is zoned semi-rural and my block is a little over an acre. The land is elevated, terraced and partly inclined or sloping and the soil is very rich, red - choclate in colour after rain - volcanic, caused by the eruption of the Mount Warning volcano some 20 million years ago. At present I am busily establishing a garden and watching and learning what and how things grow in the coastal sub-tropics. I am interested in all forms of gardening, from bonsai to natives to formal exotics. I prefer flowering plants, especially rare and unusual ones.
My previous garden (in Sydney's norhern beaches area) was awarded a 'Commended' certificate in the 2001 Warringah Shire Council garden awards.
