halo (wave). i live in west central new hamster with my husband, jon; my 90-yr. young mom; my lovely olde english sheep(ish) dog, hardy; and my two intrepid rodent hunters, yoda and robin.
over the last 7 years since i've moved here, to new england, i've managed to "help" my garden from builders' sand to a nice loamy "LIVING" ground; i've also managed to disintegrate at least 50% of the grass. grass is a bane..it needs water to survive AND its roots help dastardly buggers like japanese beetle babies to survive...BAH!
ok. i'll get off the soapbox now. i moved here from z7b...what a difference!!!!!!!!!! but it's ok cuz there are things that'll grow here which won't grow in oregon.
we have a little run-off canal over which we put a little wooden bridge. i looked at that and thought, "it needs a willow tree." and now it has a beautiful yellow willow which has just this year begun to "weep."
we are growing great grapes, plums, manchurian apricots, amelanchier, elderberries, etc...all for the birdies (wide varieties of northern AND southern) and the incidental white-tailed deer. the deer LOVE lilies and elderberries. it's amazing, even though i live in a sort of rural subdivision, the deer will come for the goodies they like...they take a great chance to come here...many roads, fast cars, but they come and i'm glad. i know i am responsible, even a little to help them survive the harsh winters.
omigawd, i'm writing a book..sorry. my last thing i'll say is that there's a room in my house called a living room...in most peoples' houses that means sofa and tables...MY living room is LIVING!! tropical plants, mostly and a catnip intent on taking over the house...it's wonderful.
ok. god forbid you could want to know anything else...but, if you DO...please don't hesitate to write me...i will be happy to answer.
