I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina on a small tobacco farm. My family always raised a garden as well as livestock. Even today, my family and I still have the old fashioned "hog killins". My wife and daughter live on a twenty acre farm that my family has owned almost a hundred years. (Century mark is 2007) I still love the smell of the land when it is first turned in the spring and getting dirt under my fingernails.
