I live for my ferrets but they are having to share a little of my time with my garden. In March 2000, my property was a flat, muddy lot so I started with a clean slate. I've built a natural looking pond and berm. I've focused mainly on native trees and shrubs.

I've now lived in my home for 3 years and have been gardening for about 2 years. I spent the entire first year observing my property, looking at pictures in magazines, and dreaming. I then started by sculpturing the ground with great soil and putting in some trees. I've also started to learn about proper care of the soil using organic techniques.

My hard work is starting to pay off. It's April, 2003 and I just received my National Wildlife Federation Backyard Wildlife Habitat certification. It was one of the proudest days of my life when I got the certificate in the mail! You can find me as gallery ID #21319 at

My next goal is to finish the rest of my yard and to be one of the stops on Portland Metro Gardens of Natural Delights Tour for gardeners who practice natural gardening techniques. I took this tour in 2002 and learned a lot! Now I want to be one of the stops on the tour!
