I live in Sacramento, CA. Zone 9 with a subzone of 24, which is a "cold sink", an atmospheric anomally that is a few degrees colder than the surrounding area. The soil is sandy loam. Summer heat and smog are a real problem for some of the roses. It is not unusual to have temperatures over 100 for days or weeks at a time. The area is also prone to tule fog for days or weeks during the winter.
My garden has been "in progress" for 8 years now. It is generally in a state of total chaos. I keep changing my mind about where I want the plants to go, a rock garden, the shade structures to fight the summer sun, etc. I have 300 mini roses and 100 other roses, mainly Climbers,Floribundas and Hybrid Teas, although I have added a few Chinas and Hybrid Bracteatas. A few are oldies that are not in the antique catagory. I am learning to bud/graft roses and fruit trees. I also grow over 100 varieties of irises.
I live in: United States
My zone is: 9 NoCA
