I garden here in Phuket, south-west Thailand, where I retired from cold Scotland 7 years ago. And no, there are no problems here. The Muslim areas are another 6-700 km south east from here.
I grow (obviously) tropical trees, shrubs and climbers, and have a particular laove fro scented flowers.
That said, I am looking for seed of Strongylodon macrobotrys (Jade Vine) and Mucuna bennettii (aka M. novoguineensis) Red VIne or New Guinea Creeper.
In return I can offer seed of a fair range of tropical trees and shrubs. Many of these have been tested by friends in Hawaii, and proved successful, so there is no reason why they should not do well in Florida.
