I live with some little dogs that destroy everything they trample on. The survivors are my roses in the back garden, but they are a sorry lot and need work and more attractive fellow roses. My major plan is to build a pergola across the back of the house with some beautiful climbers. My companions have stopped digging everything out of pots and putting themselves in them, so I will try roses in pots down the sunny sideway. My front garden needs a complete overhaul with the drought and water restrictions, so the major plan is to replace the awful couch grass with an oval of pebbles surrounded by a mixed shrubbery of roses and anything else that agrees to grow nicely. Kmart's sales have produced David Austins, climbers, HTs and Floribundas, so I have slowly mattocked out some of the lawn, fertilised the soil, hoed it into a new couple of beds, set in more roses, and it isn't finished, looks quite messy, but I'm still going strong. My major front garden project is a front fence, with a small gate, an archway of roses, a path to the verandah, all alongside the driveway gates, when they eventuate. In the meantime, I'm learning more and more about roses from your Forum - Thankyou everyone. Fairy
