I live in Southern BC, on the "wet" coast. Lots of rain, wind, and occasionally a very cold, wet, freezing winter, which, thankfully lasts from a few days to a just a couple of weeks. I have lost dozens of roses due to these conditions. Roses are my favorite flowers, then carnations, and everything else. I love the scent of honeysuckle wafting through the morning and evening air. I grew a magnolia tree/shrub that took 8 years to bloom. Magnificent, white, fragrant blooms, finally! I planted a Queen E climber that also took 8 years to bloom...with threats of the shovel every year after the first 2 years.
