I tend a vegetable garden, some old apple trees, and numerous gray-leaved weedy herbs on a skim of acid soil above New England clay and granite. I am thinking about where to add rich-soil flowers, but truly my heart is with the natives and with old, undemanding plants like my Stanwell Perpetual roses which are briars after all...
