Although I'm not the real gardener in my family--my husband has created a prize-winning garden over the past 15 years--I'm about to add my stamp to our garden by creating a small bulb garden in the midst of our grasses, hostas, shrubs and perennials.

I have had my hands in the dirt since I was a kid, but tend to get enthusiastic at the beginning and then not keep up the day-to-day maintenance--so that many of the gardens I've started have either died or gotten rather untidy. I am hoping that this new venture into bulbs will keep me focused and invested.

I'm a writer, an editor, a storyteller, and a manager, involved in Jewish publishing. I've been married for 30 years, have two grown children, and a new granddaughter, and one surviving cat. We live in a very green part of Northwest Philadelphia, with great access to Fairmount Park and a lovely bird-watching jewel of a park called Carpenter Woods.
