For many years I was an avid vegetable gardener in northeastern Oklahoma. My husband built a wonderful compost enclosure and I gardened organically, raising loads more vegetables than we could ever use. Though I worked fulltime, I managed to can and freeze enough to get us to the next season. About 10 years ago we moved 200 miles south - still in Oklahoma, the Upper South, according to the Southern Living magazine. The soil here is very sandy and family situations have kept me from raising the garden I would like. I have just received an old greenhouse and hope to raise seedlings next spring and have a small garden. Starting seedlings is one of my favorite garden chores, though gardening is a wonderful relaxation for me.
