I transplanted to Oklahomafrom from South Texas almost 7 years ago. My mother was raised on a farm in a little town named Euchie in North East Oklahoma. My father was born in Heavner Oklahoma. So I guess you could say I have semi-roots here. It took me awhile to adjust as the May 3rd tornado visited our city just a few months after I moved here, and though I have always been a fearless person, I now fear a tornado. I always new Oklahoma was a windy state and after standing in my front yard, with my hair blowing straight back and feeling like I was riding down the road in a convertible with the top down going 60 miles an hour, I learned what wind was. I was used to extreme heat and extreme changes in weather from hot to cold from one day to the next so the temperature changes were not surprising. I love the snow and I am not bothered by the mess it makes and all in all I have learned to love Oklahoma and I love gardening in Oklahoma. I'm growing things here that I could not grow in the lime stone rocky terrain of the hill country in south Texas. I owned a plant nursery in Texas for 8 years. After closing the nursery I opened a showroom and gallery to display and sell my Native American Indian themed, sculpture, pottery, and paintings. Art and gardening are my passions and the love of nature inspires me to both. I look forward to learning from the experience I will find at this forum.
