My wife and I live on a 40 acre farm that the bank owns (we paid way too much but we just couldn't do the city thing any more)that we bought 6 years ago. We finally got the place cleaned up (it was a mess), so now we're in the process of putting in our landscaping and orchard. We are trying to put as much of it in with edibles as possible. I took up grafting and budding last year as a hobby, so with luck this fall I may be able to offer up some of them for trading. We also raise and sell Purebred swine (www.viclink.com/~qbarfarm) and for the past 3 years we have been doing foster care. So far all of our kids have been teenage boys, for some reason not too many foster homes are willing to take them. We have found that getting these kids involved in 4-H and introducing them to gardening does wonders for them. I also work full time off the farm (odd hours) so I don't get to spend as much time on the garden web as I would like too, and my replys can sometimes be delayed.

We planted 525 trees in our orchard last year, 11 varities of Pluots. Wish us luck...

We have met a lot of wonderful people exchanging on the garden web and we are looking forward too meeting many more as we put our place togeather.
