Gardening just floats my boat. I receive tremendous joy and a feeling of accomplishment when gardening, not to mention the exercise in patience. I have been married for 23 years (yikes) and have two teens and a great sheltie who keeps us laughing with his antics. I love unique perennials and shrubs and trees. We moved last fall into a new home with no trees - very barren, so I have been reading, searching the web on trees, shrubs and perennials to use in our landscape. We tore up the entire front (builder planted junky yews, azaleas, which I like, but the front faces west and those poor azaleas were frying, so we moved them to the north side of the house, juniper and other plants that are just over-used in this area.

I love fresh tomoatoes and our previous home had very little sun, but I managed to find an eastern exposure that received about three hours of sun per day. I purchase a nice, healthy-looking tomato plant and planted it in a clay pot, watered it, and checked on it every day. It grew rapidly and I could not wait for it to bear its fruit. Long story short, the plant was a weed! I was so disappointed. It even developed the tiny flower that tomatoes develop prior to the tomato bud forming. The next summer I had great success with my container gardening
