I have been an occasional gardner, haven't used chemicals for years, but never been very serious about composting and doing more than scattering some organic fertilizer around when I planted. Results have been mixed, obviously. I want to get serious about setting up a good compost bin as well as terracing my sloping garden with cement blocks and sheet composting "on site". Am starting my rows of cement blocks now, and getting a supply of cardboard ready for my annual abundant gift of carbon from the national forrest that adjoins my property. In my "other" life as an RN in an ER, I can accumulate plenty of coffee grounds to supplement my kitchen scraps for greens.
