Hi, I love gardening, my mom was an avid gardener, and my dad is still out there gardening into his 70s! Must be in my genes, like dirt under the fingernails. I started growing dahlias about 5 years ago, and now have about 60 different varieties, with about 100 total growing in the dahlia patch. Last summer I discovered 2 new garden passions -- I had my first hummingbird visiting my bee balm, and it stayed over winter with us. I also found a new garden challenge - aquatic gardening -- so Ive combined them and put in a pond and the surrounding garden is a hummingbird garden. This year we have 2 Annas, both female, so no babies yet. My husband grows cacti, he must have about 70-80 of them, and in the spring we take them outside to a coldframe where they will flower. In the fall as it gets colder they must be brought indoors. He laughs at all the silly names of my dahlias and I laugh at all his unpronounceable latin cacti names!
