Southern California gal moves to Tucson and discovers her thumb is not as green as previously boasted. Gardening in the desert is a real challenge! DH and I are both retired (he, a former corporate marketing exec me, a former computer graphics geek) live west of the Tucson Mountains on five acres with our three cats. Four acres are natural desert studded with saguaro, palo verde, creosote, mesquite, cholla, and various other natives, meandering trails, and a partially constructed 5-circuit labyrinth.

One acre commands most of my time and creativity in the form of a vegetable garden, flower garden, meditation garden, xeriscaped berm, and various potted plants strewn about. My love for the desert surprises even me and enriches every day I invest in this dusty, prickly land. When Im not puttering around in the dirt, we travel.

I live in: United States

My zone is: z9 Tucson
