I live in Northern Calif., in a small university town in the Central Valley . . . . aka Davis. This is described in Sunset as zone 14, but it's an EXTREME zone 14. Hotter & colder, I have found, than other zone 14 areas. We have challenging water (boron, hi pH), challenging soil (it is SO clay), wind (lots).

We have a world-class arboretum in town that has completely overcome these challenges. It's an outstanding arboretum - I've visited many in the U.S. and in other countries & this one really shines. Stop & walk thru it if you are passing by on I-80.

I'm interested in lots of different topics: wildflower & cutting gardens from seed, roses, California native plants, plants for Mediterranean climates, South Amer. & South African bulbs, ornamental grasses.

i have enjoyed reading thru the forums & reading about others' results & dilemmas. I get some really good specific plant info. & I appreciate that, esp. when selecting roses.

I live in: United States

My zone is: Z9 Sunset 14/8

My favorite forum 1 is California Gardening.

My favorite forum 2 is Roses.
