Welcome to deep_south_gardener's Member Page
I am a southern gardener. South west of New Orleans. I have a small yard/garden. Problems I face are, narrow garden beds, high heat and humidity in the summer, heavy rainfall(some times for long periods of time), partial shade cast from surrounding buildings and lots of foot traffic. I like to share my garden with my grandchildren and I like trying new plants. I have recently enjoyed trading seeds with other members and look forward to seeing new plants in my garden from the seed trades. I look forward to meeting new garden friends. God Bless you all. 2005 update: The weather has been gloomy and overcast. I still find time to go out into the garden and pittle around between the rain or sometimes just a light mist. We had snow Christmas Day, a real treat for us and the first one in 50 years. Most days are in the 70’s with just a few cold ones. I’ve done a lot of pruning over the past few weeks but there's still a lot of green and even some blooms out there. I now look out in the garden and see plants started from seeds obtained from trades or plants received from a local plant swap last spring. It’s nice to think of all my garden buddies that have shared they’re bounty. Thanks to all that have swapped seeds or given me good advice.
