My grandparents owned a nursery and greenhouse in Illinois for years. I recall being bored to tears every year when my mother helped transplant endless flats of seedlings. The highlight of those days was when my grandfather would go to the local greasy spoon and bring back burgers for lunch (8/$1, if I remember correctly). My grandfather passed away a few years ago, and the greenhouse has since been sold. In the midst of those long days at the greenhouse, I acquired a bright green thumb and a love for working in the garden. Delaware is now "home" (sort of), but I am still an SIU Salukis and St. Louis Cardinals fan. And, of course, I still get home to raid my mothers garden every once in a while...
