My father lived with my wife and I and always had a vegetable garden. He died twelve years ago and we decided to turn the vegetable garden into a perennial garden. We mostly have daylillies and iris. We have spent many hours and many dollars landscaping our yard with perennials and shurbs and totally enjoy all the pleasure it has brought us. We have a great mix of shrubs and plants and have created several (rooms) or beds. Spring has come early to Iowa this year and this weekend we planted 3 Gro-Low Frangrant Sumac, 3 Fothergilla Gardenii, 5, Dwarf Burning Bushes and 5, Virginia Spiderwort.

We built a arbor in our perennial garden and have a porch swing hanging from it. We spend many evening hours swinging, singing and talking and marveling at the beautiful creations God as given us to garden.
We have had two weddings in our backyard admist all the beautiful plants and they were a sight to behold.

My wife and I look forward to growing old together as we set out on our swing and enjoy the evening breezes.

I look forward to sharing and learning with the rest of the gardners on this site.
